Job Summary – Unit Head, Biomedical Engineering

• Plans, executes and maintains an effective biomedical equipment management program for biomedical equipment according to manufacturer’s recommendation.
• Participates in the technical evaluation for purchase of new/replacement equipment.
• Plans and coordinates contracted maintenance services undertaken by external vendors.
• Supervises, inspects and commission new project installation.
• Recommends equipment modification and/or fabrication of parts, if necessary.
• Provides technical advice and services pertaining to biomedical equipment.
• Updates and maintains an inventory list of biomedical equipment annually.
• Maintains effective systems and records required for effective departmental function.
• Sources and purchase spare parts for internal preventive maintenance services and repairs.
• Maintain a library of technical manuals on biomedical equipment in the hospital.
• Responsible for the recruitment, selection, training, supervision and other personnel matters in the department.
• Effects departmental job functions and supervises Biomedical Engineer and Biomedical Executive.
• Delegates responsibilities to designated staff.
• Assist in the general administration of the Biomedical Engineering department in a fiscally responsible manner within the department budget.
• Assist in the development of departmental policies and procedures when need arises. 
• Involved in the interpretation and implementation of department’s goals and objectives.

Education / Professional Qualification

• Bachelor of Biomedical Engineering / Medical Electronics Engineering 
• Well-versed in all standards and specifications related to biomedical equipment.
• Good understanding of equipment maintenance systems.
• Computer literate preferably in word processing, flowcharting and spreadsheet applications.
• At least eight (8) years of working experience in Biomedical Engineering field, preferably with hospital environment and knowledge in biomedical equipment is essential. 
• Monitors and supervises the biomedical device management in hospital
