Job Description : 

1. Assists with bathing, sitz bath, dressing and undressing patients. Attends to patient’s personal hygiene and pressure area care to increase their comfort and well-being.
2. Makes patient’s beds and change bed linen.
3. Assists with feeding patients during meal times and in between meal nourishment including fluids when required.
4. Delivers messages, equipment or specimens between divisions as required.
5. Assists patients with toiletry needs, give bedpan or assistance to bathroom as indicated by patient’s condition.
6. Assists professional nursing team in preparing patients for specific examinations and investigations.
7. Assists with administration of oral medication according to policy established and pertaining to each area of work assignment.
8. Takes and record temperatures, pulse, respiration rates and blood pressure and reports all unusual conditions or patient reactions to the Sister/ Team leader/ Obstetrician / Doctor and the nurse in charge.
9. Assists Staff Midwife to :
10. Position / hold the patient during procedures.
11. Carry out admission and discharge of patient.
12. Collect or sent sample specimens to/ from for Laboratory investigations e.g. blood, urine, sputum and stool.
13. Responsible for cleanliness and care of the department equipment.
14. Carries out inventory checks for inventory and non-inventory stocks in department. Report to Sister if any variances/ shortage on inventory and non-inventory stocks.
15. Perform or enter charges as per usage in HMIS for MMSU Sub store and Main store items and etc.
